I don’t like “love on,” either! It’s so squirmy.

I, too, hate “presh.” UGH. The word “precious” in general is highly overused.

Others that make my skin crawl: sandals, corn chips. Another one’s been bugging me lately that I can’t remember.

    – Mississippi Mama :)

Okay, some of these, I’ve never heard of — Bodycon and Presh? But I, too, am not a huge fan of the phrase, “Love on,” but I accidentally heard myself saying it the other day and it was worse hearing myself say it. I’ve been indoctrinated without knowing it!

But let’s see … the word ‘hair’ when said just right reminds me too much of the part in Blair Witch where she was “covered in hair” (pronounced hee-air). *Shivers.*

The word gnarly. I heard a chef us it on Extreme Chef the other day and it was so ick. I don’t know that it was ever a good word unless one is describing something that is actually gnarled up like an old Blair witch-y kind of tree or something.

Oddly, the word, fresh. I think back in the day, I had a friend of mine who insisted on singing the word ‘phresh’ about almost everything so now even when someone says, “Are those apples fresh?” or whatever, I gag slightly because I can hear the tortuous melody echoing in my ears.

    Probably hundreds more.

Oh, sammich(es) is terrible! I thought of that one actually last night. Since this post, Brenda, I keep thinking of other ones. Good thought-provoking topic.

  4. What is bodycon? Presh? Why/when would someone say “love on”? I am so out of touch. ha. I don’t like the word funky. I don’t know why, but it irritates me.

  5. I thought of a phrase–hump day. I flash back to sixth grade and the giggles everyone would try to suppress whenever someone would say it, and even now, I just hate the term.

  6. Oh yeah, “love on” bugs. It’s such a contemporary church word, too, and it when pastors tell you to “love on” people, it seems a little smothery and inappropriate somehow. :P

Agreed on the “sammich” mention! Same for “prolly.”

The words that bother me the most are too bothersome to actually type.
