Our Lord of the Pizza Pan

While looking for updates on the earthquake/tsunami crisis this morning, I came across this short tale of a Massachusetts man who saw Jesus and Mary on the roaster from his pizza oven. Then I noticed multiple links to similar stories in the sidebar. It got me thinking about “Jesus sightings” in general. Obviously I’m all for anything that leads someone to real faith in Jesus, and I guess it happens in a few of these situations. But I don’t understand why, upon sighting a face or human form on a door or a wall, or in a pizza or cinnamon roll, even non-faithy people immediately jump to spiritual conclusions. Can’t it just be “a person”? Why is it always Jesus, or the devil, or Mother Teresa? Am I the only one perplexed by this? I don’t know. Either way, it’s interesting.
Happy Friday! :)

(ETA: for some reason, the video isn’t showing up in Google Reader, but it works fine on the blog.)

You make some good points! Prayers for the people of Japan anyway … and anyone else effected by aftershocks and tsunamis, etc. I’ve been following the news off and on today.
